Gaya: Customs officials at Gaya International Airport seized hydroponic marijuana worth around ₹10 crore from two unclaimed bags that arrived on a flight from Bangkok. The bags had been lying unattended at the airport for three days before officials inspected them and discovered the narcotics.

Suspicious Bags Trigger Customs Inspection

According to officials, the two bags arrived from Bangkok on March 14 and remained unclaimed at the airport. During routine checks, airport authorities separated the bags for verification. Their unusual condition raised suspicion among customs officials, prompting a detailed inspection.

When the bags were opened, officials found a large quantity of hydroponic marijuana concealed inside.

High-Value Hydroponic Cannabis Recovered

Authorities said the seized substance was hydroponic marijuana, a premium variety of cannabis cultivated using advanced hydroponic techniques rather than traditional soil-based methods. This method produces higher-quality cannabis that commands a much higher price in the international market.

Officials estimated the seized consignment to be worth nearly ₹10 crore globally.

Investigation Points To Possible International Drug Network

Following the seizure, security at the airport has been tightened. Customs officials suspect the case could be linked to an international drug trafficking network.

Authorities have contacted Bangkok airport officials and are examining CCTV footage to identify the person who brought the bags. Investigators are also working to uncover the broader smuggling network behind the operation.
