Ranchi: The CBI has intensified its investigation into a bribery case by examining the mobile phone of a senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) after arresting a Chief Commercial Inspector while accepting a bribe.
Inspector Arrested While Taking Bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Ranchi ACB unit, had caught Chief Commercial Inspector Himanshu Shekhar red-handed while accepting ₹50,000 as a bribe. He had allegedly demanded a 7% commission to clear a contractor Ajay Tyagi’s pending bill of ₹8.70 lakh.
After negotiations, the deal was settled at ₹50,000, following which the contractor lodged a complaint, leading to the trap and arrest.
Senior DCM Questioned, Phone Seized
Following the arrest, the CBI questioned Senior DCM Suchi Singh regarding possible involvement in the case. Although she was later released after interrogation, officials seized her mobile phone for further examination.
Digital Evidence Under Scrutiny
The agency is now analyzing the phone to determine whether there was any connection or communication linking the senior officer to the bribery transaction. The probe aims to uncover if the case involves a broader network or higher-level complicity.
