Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla has made a strong impact at the box office, crossing Rs 100 crore worldwide soon after release. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film combines suspense, comedy, and supernatural drama, attracting large audiences during its opening weekend.
Strong Weekend Performance
The film opened with paid previews and earned a total of Rs 16 crore on launch. Collections rose further over the weekend, with Rs 19 crore on Saturday and Rs 23 crore on Sunday, making Sunday its biggest single-day total so far.
After the weekend surge, the movie’s domestic earnings reportedly reached Rs 64.75 crore.
Monday Slowdown Seen
Like many theatrical releases, the film saw a drop in collections on Monday. Early estimates suggest it earned around Rs 6.75 crore on the first weekday. Industry observers consider the decline normal for a working day after a strong weekend run.
Despite the slowdown, the film has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark globally.
Star Cast and Storyline
Produced under the Balaji Motion Pictures banner, the film stars Akshay Kumar in a double role alongside Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani.
The story revolves around a mysterious palace with a dark past. Events take a dramatic turn when a wedding is planned there, only for the mansion to reveal a cursed history. Comic performances and suspenseful twists have been major highlights for viewers.
Positive Audience Response
The mix of horror and humour, combined with familiar comic actors and Priyadarshan’s style of storytelling, has helped the film generate strong early momentum at cinemas.
