New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its first anniversary, saying the innocent lives lost would never be forgotten. He also reaffirmed India’s resolve against terrorism.
Prime Minister’s Message of Unity
In his message, Modi remembered those killed in the brutal attack and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. He said the nation stands united in grief and remains firm in its determination to defeat terrorism.
The Prime Minister added that India would never bow before any form of terror and that the plans of terrorists would never succeed.
Army Repeats Justice Warning
The Indian Army also marked the anniversary with a strong statement, declaring that justice would always be delivered for acts committed against India.
The Army highlighted Operation Mahadev, under which security forces searched difficult terrain for more than three months before neutralising the three attackers linked to the Pahalgam killings. It also stated that Operation Sindoor remains active.
Remembering the Attack
The April 22, 2025 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam killed 26 civilians. According to reports, the victims were separated on the basis of religion before being shot in front of their families, causing nationwide outrage.
India’s Response
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting terror infrastructure across the border. Several terror launchpads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen were reportedly destroyed, and more than 100 terrorists were eliminated.
Following a brief four-day conflict and ceasefire, Indian forces later carried out Operation Mahadev to track down those directly involved in the Pahalgam attack.
