Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined Rs 12 lakh by the BCCI for his team’s slow over rate during IPL 2026 match 59 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday.
First Offence of the Season for LSG
The LSG bowlers took longer than the stipulated time to complete their 20 overs against CSK, marking the first such violation for the team in IPL 2026. As per Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, a first offence by the captain attracts a fine of Rs 12 lakh, which has been imposed on Pant.
Match Summary
Pant won the toss and invited CSK to bat first. Kartik Sharma played a dominant innings of 71 runs off 42 balls, helping CSK post 187 for 5 in 20 overs. LSG pace bowler Akash was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs. Chasing 188, LSG completed the target with 7 wickets in hand and 20 balls to spare, winning the match convincingly.
