Ranchi: With temperatures rising sharply across Jharkhand, the state health department has issued directions to all hospitals to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness to handle heatwave-related cases. Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said that necessary arrangements are being put in place at government hospitals, sadar hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres across the state.
Medicines and Medical Teams on Standby
All health centres have been instructed to maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines, ORS, IV fluids, and medical teams so that patients affected by heat and heatstroke can receive immediate treatment without delay.
Public Advisory Issued
Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari appealed to citizens to step out of their homes only when absolutely necessary and advised people to avoid going out in the sun between 11 am and 4 pm. He urged everyone to drink plenty of water, ORS, lemon water, and other fluids, and asked people to take special care of children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
Symptoms to Watch For
Dr. Ansari said that if anyone experiences dizziness, high fever, vomiting, weakness, or loss of consciousness, they should immediately contact the nearest health centre. He added that with a little caution, serious health complications from heat and heatstroke can be easily prevented.
