Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid an emotional tribute to Jharkhand movement leader and former MLA Durga Soren on his death anniversary on Thursday. The Chief Minister visited the Durga Soren memorial site at Lowadih in Namkum, where he garlanded the statue and paid his respects.
CM Recalls Durga Soren’s Lifelong Struggle
Speaking on the occasion, CM Hemant Soren said that the late Durga Soren dedicated his entire life to the struggle for a separate Jharkhand state and the rights of the marginalised and tribal communities. He described him as a visionary, determined, and people-centric leader whose life was devoted entirely to public welfare.
Contribution to Jharkhand Movement Cannot Be Forgotten
The Chief Minister said that just as every year, people gathered in large numbers to remember Durga Soren, reflecting the deep bond he shared with the masses. He emphasised that Durga Soren’s contribution and struggle in the Jharkhand movement can never be forgotten, and that it was because of the sacrifices of such dedicated leaders that the dream of a separate Jharkhand state was realised.
Inspiration for Future Generations
CM Soren said that Durga Soren’s ideals and values will continue to inspire generations to come, and expressed pride in having such a young and spirited leader as part of Jharkhand’s history. Several elected representatives, social workers, and dignitaries also visited the memorial to pay their tributes.
