The Indian women’s cricket team departed from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on May 23 for England, ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 beginning on June 12. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain the side with Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain.
Warm-Up Series Against England First
Before the World Cup, India will play three T20I matches against England from May 28 to June 2 as preparation. All teams will then participate in warm-up matches beginning June 6.
India’s Group and Schedule
India have been placed in Group 1 alongside Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Netherlands. Their opening match is against Pakistan on June 14. After that, India will face Netherlands in Leeds, then travel to Manchester for matches against South Africa and Bangladesh, before taking on Australia in London on June 28.
Recent Form a Concern
In their most recent T20I assignment, India suffered a disappointing 4-1 series defeat against South Africa under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, which will be a concern heading into the mega tournament.
