New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the Union government and social media platform X after Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke filed a petition challenging the suspension of the party’s X account, which had become a viral online phenomenon.

Account Suspension Sparks Legal Battle

The CJP’s X handle had gained massive popularity before being suspended by the platform. In addition to the account ban, the party’s website — which was offering memberships to join the online campaign — was also taken down, dealing a double blow to the movement.

Founder Calls Government Dictatorial

Prior to filing the petition, Dipke had publicly hit out at the BJP-led central government over the shutdown, calling it dictatorial. He claimed that nearly 10 lakh people had already signed up as members, making the platform a Gen Z and millennial-driven space built around sarcasm, satire, and meme culture aimed at the political system.

How the CJP Became a Viral Sensation

The Cockroach Janta Party rose to overnight fame following a politically charged online campaign linked to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s “cockroach” remark, which triggered widespread debate across social media. CJI Surya Kant later clarified his statement, saying he deeply respected India’s youth.
