Kolkata Schedule Focuses on Ganguly’s Childhood
The Kolkata shooting schedule will cover several locations connected to Sourav Ganguly’s life and cricket journey. The first phase of the Kolkata shoot is centred on Ganguly’s childhood, tracing his journey from the lanes of Behala to becoming one of India’s greatest cricketers. Filming began at Ganguly’s Behala residence.
Film Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane
Titled Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story, the film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. Tanya Maniktala has been cast as Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly, and the film will also portray their love story. To maintain an authentic Bengali atmosphere, several Bengali actors have been brought on board in key roles. Aparajita Adhya plays Ganguly’s mother Nirupa Ganguly, while Saswata Chatterjee portrays his father Chandi Ganguly.
Release Date Yet to Be Announced
The film’s shoot began in April 2026, but the makers have not yet announced a release date, leaving it unclear whether the biopic will hit theatres in 2026 or 2027.
