Orange Alert Issued for Heavy Rain and Storm in Jharkhand, Temperature to Drop 5-7 Degrees in 24 Hours

Ranchi: The Meteorological Department has forecast a sharp weather change across Jharkhand, with maximum temperatures expected to drop by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius within the next 24 hours, bringing much-needed relief from intense heat.

Rainfall Recorded Across Several Districts

Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in multiple districts. Koderma DVC received the highest rainfall at 40.5 mm, followed by Satgawan at 39 mm and Konar DVC at 31 mm. Daltonganj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, while Latehar logged the lowest minimum temperature at 18.2 degrees Celsius.

Orange Alert for Bokaro and Dhanbad on May 29

The weather department has issued an orange alert for Bokaro and Dhanbad on May 29, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour. On May 30, the same orange alert has been extended to Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Koderma, Hazaribagh, and Ramgarh.

Yellow Alert Across Remaining Districts

A yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts including Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Simdega, Seraikela Kharsawan, Gumla, Khunti, Lohardaga, Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj, where winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour and lightning strikes are expected.

Ranchi Weather Forecast

Ranchi is likely to remain cloudy on May 29 with light to moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees. From May 30 to June 2, cloudy skies and intermittent rain are expected to continue, with temperatures gradually rising back to 33 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Advisory for Residents and Farmers

The meteorological department has advised residents and farmers across the state to stay in safe locations during adverse weather conditions. Strong winds and lightning are likely to persist across the entire state on May 31 as well.
