Ranchi: Just two days before the Rajya Sabha elections, an interesting political picture has emerged in Jharkhand, with almost all NDA legislators checking into the Radisson Blu hotel in Ranchi while BJP MLA Prakash Ram from Latehar, who fell ill and was hospitalised, has returned to his constituency instead of staying at the designated hotel — raising concern within the BJP camp at a time when every vote counts.
Prakash Ram Hospitalised, Now Back in Latehar
Prakash Ram was admitted to Paras Hospital in Ranchi after his health deteriorated. Several senior party leaders reached out to inquire about his health. The BJP is hoping he will return to Ranchi before polling day and be able to cast his vote at the Vidhan Sabha. His absence from the hotel where other NDA MLAs are gathered has drawn significant attention in political circles.
NDA Keeps MLAs Together to Prevent Poaching
With electoral calculations being closely watched, the NDA has decided to keep all its MLAs together at Radisson Blu to ensure unity until polling day and prevent any political outreach or influence from affecting them. The contest for NDA-backed independent candidate Parimal Nathwani is not being considered a foregone conclusion, making the effort to consolidate every vote critical.
Prakash Ram’s Political Journey
Prakash Ram has had an interesting political career. He was first elected as an MLA on a Jharkhand Vikas Morcha ticket under Babulal Marandi before joining the BJP. In the 2024 assembly elections, he defeated then minister Baidyanath Ram to return to the Vidhan Sabha.
Every Vote Matters
Political observers are watching Prakash Ram’s health closely. If he makes it to the Vidhan Sabha on polling day, it will be a relief for the BJP. If health reasons keep him away, it could affect the already tight and closely watched arithmetic of the Rajya Sabha election.
