Mamata Banerjee Reaches Calcutta High Court to File Petition Challenging Bhawanipur Election Result

Kolkata: TMC chief Mamata Banerjee made a sudden visit to the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday afternoon to file a petition challenging the election result from Bhawanipur constituency, which she lost to BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari by a margin of 15,104 votes.

Senior TMC Leaders Accompany Mamata to Court

Mamata Banerjee was accompanied to the court by MP Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, and Kalyan Banerjee. According to sources, Mamata had come to the court specifically to sign the petition documents challenging the Bhawanipur election result.

Shubhendu Adhikari Had Defeated Mamata by Over 15,000 Votes

Mamata Banerjee had contested from the Bhawanipur assembly seat but was defeated by BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari, who won by a margin of 15,104 votes. Unable to come to terms with the defeat, Mamata has now moved the Calcutta High Court to legally contest the outcome.
