Ranchi: Former Jharkhand minister, senior Congress leader and ex-MLA from Dhanbad, Mannan Mallick, passed away on Tuesday morning at a private hospital in Ranchi at the age of 83, after reportedly battling prolonged illness and undergoing treatment for some time.
Tributes Pour in from Political Leaders Across Parties
News of Mallick’s demise triggered an outpouring of grief across Dhanbad, Jharkhand and the Bihar Congress unit, with several political and social figures expressing deep sorrow over his passing. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also mourned his death, writing on X that the news of the former minister and senior leader’s passing was extremely painful, noting that Mallick had spent a long career in public service, strongly voicing the concerns of the people of Jharkhand, particularly Dhanbad. The Chief Minister further stated that the state had lost an experienced public representative and a leader deeply connected to social causes, and prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for his grieving family, supporters and well-wishers.
Leaders from Congress and BJP Pay Respects
Anupama Singh, wife of Bermo MLA Kumar Jaimangal and former Lok Sabha candidate from Dhanbad, also paid tribute to Mallick, posting his photograph on X and describing the news of his passing as deeply heartbreaking, calling him a guardian and mentor figure and praying for his soul to find a place at God’s feet. BJP leader and former Jama MLA Sita Soren also offered condolences, writing on X that the news of the former minister and senior leader’s demise was extremely painful and that his dedication to public service would always be remembered, praying for peace for the departed soul.
