New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has ended his indefinite hunger strike, with Dr Yogendra Yadav breaking his fast by offering him juice, describing the moment not as the hunger strike breaking down but as the end of this particular form of struggle.

Prominent Voices Had Appealed for the Fast to End

Actors Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj, along with MP Manoj Jha, Rajaram Singh, Amra Ram, Dr Yogendra Yadav and lawyer Prashant Bhushan, had earlier appealed to the students to end their hunger strike. Following the appeal linked to the Parliament march, Dipke broke his two-and-a-half-day fast at Jantar Mantar in the presence of Sonam Wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali. Separately, AISA students who had been sitting on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar prior to Dipke had also already ended their fast, while Sonam Wangchuk, currently admitted at Safdarjung Hospital, has likewise broken his hunger strike.

CJP Claims Meeting with JP Nadda, Alleges Detention of Dipke

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das claimed that after ending his fast, Dipke was taken into police custody, adding that a 10-minute meeting had taken place with Union Minister JP Nadda, from whom the party had received assurances. CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met with the minister to discuss their demands, submitting a written letter while awaiting further internal discussion from the government’s side.

Thousands Join Parliament March, Opposition Leaders Participate

Thousands of young protesters took part in the march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament House on Sunday, which saw the participation of several political leaders including Samajwadi Party MPs led by Dimple Yadav, TMC MP Mahua Moitra, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Atishi and Gopal Rai, ASP leader Chandrashekhar Azad, and actor Prakash Raj.

Tear Gas Used Near Shastri Bhawan as Protesters Push Barricades

As the march advanced, protesters attempted to breach the security cordon near Shastri Bhawan, prompting security forces to fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. According to sources, several metro station gates in the New Delhi area were shut for security reasons, while security around Parliament House was significantly tightened, with police and paramilitary personnel deployed extensively.
