Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court heard a petition seeking the annulment of the state government’s order cancelling the appointment process for Civil Judge Junior Division examinations, during which the court was informed that the petitioners had not yet become judicial officers and their appointment process was still ongoing.
Court Directs Transfer to Single Bench
Given that a similar matter was already being heard by a single bench of the High Court, it was requested that this case also be transferred there for hearing. Both the state government and JPSC raised no objection to this request. Following this, the division bench of Chief Justice M.S. Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar directed that the three petitions challenging the cancellation of the Civil Judge Junior Division recruitment process be transferred to the High Court’s single bench.
Petitioners Challenge Cancellation of 2023 Advertisement
The petitioners have challenged the cancellation of the Civil Judge Junior Division recruitment under advertisement number 22/2023. The petitions were filed by Aditya Bhaskar and Ayush Kumar Verma, with advocates Indrajit Sinha, Anurag Kashyap and Sonal representing the petitioners.
Cancellations Stem from CID Investigation Findings
The cancellations trace back to the state government’s late-night announcement on August 18, based on findings from the CID investigation, cancelling all examinations linked to agency TDPL, along with a broader announcement to investigate potential irregularities in all recruitment examinations conducted since 2014. Following these announcements, the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued a notification cancelling 22 examinations, suspending the process for 6 others, and bringing 17 additional examinations under investigation.
