Berhampur: Acting on information from Lucknow Military Intelligence, Odisha Police have arrested two Bangladeshi women during a covert operation in Berhampur as they were allegedly planning to flee to Bengaluru, a development seen as a significant success for security agencies.
Women Lived Under Indian Names with Fake Documents
Police investigation found that the women had been living in India without valid documents and had been hiding for a long time in Bhubaneswar and other parts of Odisha. They had used Indian names and forged documents to conceal their identity, which makes the case one of identity concealment and document misuse as well as illegal migration. According to police sources, fake Aadhaar cards, mobile phones and Bangladeshi identity cards were recovered from them.
Possible Involvement in Suspicious Activities
Security agencies believe the women were not merely staying illegally. Investigators have indicated they may have been involved in certain illegal and suspicious activities, though full details have not yet come to light.
Sent to Athagarh Holding Centre, Probe Widens
The women have been sent to the Athagarh holding centre, and a case has been registered by the GRP, Berhampur. Security agencies are probing the depth of the network.
