New Delhi: The BJP has attacked the Congress over the party’s big success in the MLC elections and the Congress’s alleged failure, with BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi saying at a press conference in Delhi that the Congress failed to register even its presence in the polls.
“Polls Were on Ballot Papers, Yet Congress Was Absent”
Trivedi pointed out that the elections were held through ballot boxes and ballot papers, not EVMs, yet the Congress’s presence was not visible. Taking a jibe, he said the party could not even establish its existence. He said this shows the Congress lacks the ability to win the support of the public or voters in any election, whether held through EVMs or ballot papers.
Jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s Foreign Trip
Trivedi said the Congress should understand that Rahul Gandhi has returned after nearly two weeks of fun and sightseeing. He said Gandhi talks of launching a movement that could create difficulties for the Indian economy, and should realise that neither the public nor the legislators are with him. Noting that BJP national president Nitin Nabin is touring Uttar Pradesh and Amit Shah is in Punjab, while Rahul Gandhi was missing and roaming in “Champa” (the ancient name of Vietnam), he asked how the Congress could still expect public support.
Advice to Congress
The BJP MP advised the Congress to give up its habit of shirking hard work, saying public support comes from hard work and not from sightseeing and fun, and that doing so would make the “vote chori” slogan end on its own.
