Ranchi: Two months after deciding to set up a committee to reform and bring transparency to JPSC and JSSC examinations, the Jharkhand government has still not constituted it.

Committee Was to Report Within Two Months

On August 18, 2026, the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued an order after large-scale irregularities and fraudulent appointments came to light in the exams, amid student protests. The order affected 45 examinations in all: 22 were cancelled, six were postponed and 17 were brought under investigation. On the same day, the government issued notification number 5409 deciding to form a committee headed by IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal, to include officials from other departments and directors of reputed institutions. It was to submit its report on exam reforms within two months, but the committee has not been formed.

CID Probes Continue, At Least 50 Arrested

Meanwhile, the CID investigation into irregularities in the 14th JPSC and JSSC CGL exams continues. At least 50 people have been arrested in these cases, including former JPSC chairman L. Khyangte, deputy exam controller Shweta Gupta and several successful candidates. In the JPSC case, the investigating agency has filed two chargesheets.
