Ranchi, Aug.21: Drinking water and sanitation department minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur requested BJP MLA Randhir Singh and other parliamentarians and legislators of the state to not inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of any project related to his department without prior approval or prior information to his department in order to maintain the established tradition.
The letter was written today after it came to the knowledge of the minister that BJP legislator from Sarath laid the foundation stone of Palojori Multi Village Water Supply Project on August 18 without any prior information either to him or his department.
Minister Thakur while requesting referred to a guideline issued by the cabinet secretariat and vigilance department (co-ordination) taking foundation laying and inauguration programme in the state. The guideline suggests inauguration or foundation laying programme is required to be done by people’s representatives related to the department like chief minister, in-charge minister of 20-point implementation department, departmental minister, local minister, local MP and local MLAs besides others.
Minister Thakur in his letter expressed his concern over the development saying if the chief minister had laid the foundation stone of the project with consensus it would have been a matter of pride for the department and government.
“The State government is committed to provide drinking water to 58.95 lakh households across the state by 2024,” Thakur in this letter has stated.
