Ranchi, Aug.31: The JMM today alleged the BJP- led Union government of step-motherly treatment with the non-BJP ruled states.

Party general secretary and spokesperson, Vinod Pandey, levelled the allegation by organising a press conference at his party office after the Union power ministry deducted Rs 714 crore from the account of the Jharkhand government through the Reserve Bank of India to recover the due bill amount of Damodar Valley Corporation.

Pandey said the deduction is unjustified at the time when the state government is paying Rs 125 crore every month against the due bill amount despite facing a financial crisis during the corona pandemic. He said abrupt deductions may cause problems in the payment of the salary of the government staff.

Pandey said the Union power ministry has not done such a deduction from the account of any of those states where the BJP or other party rules including UP, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh, which owes an amount in tunes of several hundred crores against power bills.

Pandey while levelling the allegation expressed his concern over the attitude of 16 parliamentarians from the BJP from the state saying despite being in big numbers they are behaving like mute spectators and not sharing the financial position of the state whose treasury was almost empty when Hemant Soren came into power.

Pandey questioned the action saying how come the union power minister took the amount from Jharkhand’s account when the state government has backed out from tripartite agreement taken place between the state government, union government and DVC in 2017 following a cabinet decision.
