Ranchi, Sept.3: A four-yr-old boy died after a medical shop owner gave him medical treatment through the phone with the help of his son and brother in the absence of the doctor attached to his medical store.
The incident took place at Itki, a destination about 25km from the city which is known for TB hospital and the government is planning to develop it as a Medico City.
A locality resident informed about the incident saying the victim is Vishal, son of a locality resident Dinesh Bhagat.
Officer-in-charge of Itki police station Vijay Kumar confirmed the incident saying all the three involved in treatment were arrested.
“The boy has consumed expired medicine. His father took him to Manoj Medical, which is run by Manoj Keshri, for treatment as a doctor, Dr A.Kumar, sits there. As he reached he neither found a doctor nor found a doctor. Keshri’s son and brother were sitting there,” OC Kumar said.
“Sensing the gravity of the situation, Keshri was given a telephonic call. Taking the matter lightly, Keshri in order to help the boy gave directions over the phone to his brother and son regarding treatment. As the duo started treatment, the boy died. After we got information in this regard, we arrested the three. Their intention was not bad but they committed a blunder. One should not give medical treatment without proper knowledge,” OC Kumar said.
