Police destroy den of cybercriminals in Deoghar, 40 arrested in three days

Dhanbad Sept 6: Deoghar police claimed to have destroyed a den of cybercriminals by arresting 40 members from different police stations during three days’ special operation.

A joint team of police and cyber wing recovered 56 mobile phones,139 Sim cards, 13 ATM cards, 12 passbooks, 09 checkbooks, one laptop and one micro Point of Sale (POS)  machine from the arrested 40 criminals in special operations.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), headquarters, Mangal Singh Jamuda, and cyber DSP Sumit Prasad who led the operations jointly said that the team today arrested 18 criminals, including customer service point (CSP) operator Ravi Ranjan against whom an FIR  was lodged in Jamnagar ( Gujarat) cyber cell.

Officials said in the investigation it was found that Ravi Ranjan who runs Paynearby CSP was converting cheated money of cybercriminals into white through a retail shop on 20% commission.

“Eighteen cybercriminals were arrested today from villages of Madhupur police station, Jasidih police station, Pathrol police station  and Mohanpur police station. The police team recovered 29 mobile phones 42 Sim cards, eight ATM cards, seven passbooks, five cheque books, one lap top and one micro POS machine from them.  The arrested cybercriminals are being interrogated about their cheating money,” said Mangal Singh Jamuda.

Earlier on September 3,  on the directive of the superintendent of police (SP), a joint team of police and cyber police station personnel conducted raids simultaneously in villages of five police stations of district and arrested  22 criminals. The team recovered 27 mobile phones 97 Sim cards, five ATM cards five passbooks, four checkbooks one bike, and a cash amount of Rs 7,000 from them.

“The arrested criminals revealed that they used to make Pay Phone  Customers main target by sending cashback request and cheated them through E-Wallets, Dream 11, Pay U money,” said  Mangal Singh Jamuda to media persons.
