Dhanbad Sept. 6: Rattled by the gender imbalance in Dhanbad, the district administration on Monday announced to give monetary reward for informing violation of PC PNDT Act ( sex selection) by an ultrasound clinic.
Deputy Commissioner ( DC) Sandip Kumar Singh has also directed to conduct fresh screening of all ultrasound clinics of the district under the supervision of a magistrate and a medical officer over reportedly sex selection function.
At a review meeting on Monday, the DC said that sex ratio of district is alarming. “Due to Corona pandemic inspection of ultrasound machine under Pre Conception- pre –Natal Dignosis Technique (PC PNDT) Act was not done properly. So, screen all ultrasound clinics on a priority basis and submit a report,” the DC directed to concerned officials.
As per the official record, the sex ratio in the Dhanbad district is the worst in state. It is 916 girls for every thousand boys.
The Deputy Commissioner took serious note to the absence of PC-PNDT Act consultant members at the review meeting and directed to show cause Sadar hospital nodal officer Dr Rajkumar, executive magistrate Bandhu Kachap, Dr Gautam of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital and Narayan Dutt Gupta of Narayan Hospital.
