Dhanbad Sept 7: One person died while three other members of a family seriously burnt when an 11,000 – volt electric wire fell on the house in the Pandarpala area under Bhuli OP, around 7 km away from the district headquarters.

The deceased was identified as Sohel Ansari while his mother Shamida Khatoon, brother Shahnawaj and Shahwaj burnt seriously and were admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH).

Bhuli OP officer-in-charge Sandip Baghwar said the incident occurred around 12 am on Tuesday. The family members were sleeping on the roof of the house when 11,000 –volt electric wire, crossing over their house, suddenly broke down, and the current spread throughout the house.

“The body has been sent for post mortem,” said the officer-in-charge of Bhuli OP.
Mohsin Master, husband of the outgoing councillor of the ward,  who first rushed to rescue said all the four members woke up from loud sound as the electric wire broke from the pole.  As they came down from their cot, electricity hit them. Neighbours rushed to help and got them admitted to SNMMCH for treatment where the doctor declared Sohel Ansari brought dead.

Pandarpala residents alleged that they, including the victim’s family, have been complaining to the electricity department for years to remove the  11,000 – Volt wire that is crossing over several houses of people but the power department officials did not  take cognizance of danger.

However, a senior official of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) Dhanbad area Board said that process is on to shift the polls where high voltage electric wire is crossing over the houses across the district including Bhuli Pandarpala  area.
