Hike in fuel prices for 5th straight day, diesel crosses Rs. 100 mark in Mumbai

New Delhi, Oct.9: Price of petrol has increased by 30 paise/L and the price of diesel was increased by 35 paise/L on saturday in what was likely the greatest rally in domestic fuel prices. In many states, petrol and diesel prices have surpassed Rs 100/L, putting a strain on the common citizen’s wallet.

Following the recent price revision, petrol costs Rs 103.84 per litre in Delhi and diesel costs Rs 92.47 per litre. On the other side, in India’s financial capital Mumbai, petrol has increased by 29 paise a litre and its rate stands at Rs 109.83, making it the most expensive of the four metro cities. Whereas a litre of diesel in Mumbai costs Rs 100.29, due to an increase of 37 paise.

Similarly, in Chennai, the price of petrol has increased by 26 paise per litre to Rs 101.27, and the price of diesel has climbed by 33 paise to Rs 96.93 per litre. In Kolkata, the prices of petrol and diesel are Rs 104.52 and Rs 95.58 per litre, respectively. After the latest revision by the state-run oil marketing corporations, petrol prices rose to an all-time high across the country on Saturday (OMCs).

For the past four days, the price of petrol and diesel has been steadily rising, and the rates have reached an all-time high. On October 4, 2021, the prices stayed unchanged, but then have been increasing continuously.
