New Delhi, Oct 22: Union Minister of Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal on Friday called for free trade within a rule based multilateral trading system with transparency.

He said this at the 54th Convocation of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in New Delhi. While addressing the event, Goyal said that the convocation is an important ceremony that marks the next step in the journey of the graduates when they grow from acquisition of knowledge to application of knowledge.

He also encouraged academic institutions to engage on a much larger scale with the industry and asked students to make up internships with both the public as well as private players.

Referring to India’s ambitious programs like the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan for infrastructure and multimodal connectivity, he said that there was a need for planned and focused efforts to create infrastructure in the country by breaking silos and bringing in synergy.

“There is a need to bring in quality and productivity in all we do. A Made in India product must be a guarantee to the world,” added Piyush Goyal.
