Ranchi, Oct.27: Labourers of unorganised sectors, who are not covered under any insurance scheme of the government like CPS, NPS, EPFO and ESIC and who do not pay income tax, will now get insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh if they procure e-Shram card.

The scheme launched by the union government as Deepawali gift was today circulated by the district administration with a request to common people to circulate the message among the target group.

Those who are in the age group of 16 to 59 are covered under the scheme. For registration one can hit eshram.gov.in and get registered himself. The work can be done by visiting the choice centre, Lok Seva Kendra or the common service centre (Pragya Kendra).

Documents required for registration include aadhar card, mobile number and bank account.

Apart from insurance cover, the workers with the help of e-Shrama card can also be benefited from all welfare schemes of the labour department including scholarships for children of labourers, free bicycles, free sewing machines and free tools for work. In the long run, the card will be linked with ration cards to ensure that labourers having e-shram cards could benefit from the scheme across the country.

The scheme can help maids, cooks, vendors, servants, waiters, receptionists, cobblers, barbers, painters, mechanics, delivery boys and priests besides similar others.
