Ranchi, Nov.14: Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha today officially confirmed arrest of Maoist top gun Prashant Bose having several aliases included Kishan Da with his wife Sheela Marandi and four other Maoists including Birenda Hansda, Raju Tudu, Krishna Bahangda and Gurucharan Bodra.

Official confirmation was given by organizing a press conference at Khukri guest house of Jharkhand Armed Police in Doranda. The arrest was done on November 12 when the political bureau member of the CPI (Maoist) Bose, carrying Rs one crore cash award on his head, was on way to Kolhan from Parasnath Hills to participate in a co-ordination committee meeting at Saranda on a SUV.

The DGP said that the arrest took place near Giddibera Toll Plaza under Kandra police station of Saraikela district and intercepted the SUV during vehicle check drive. He said that it was a big achievement for the state police as earlier no Maoist leader of this stature was arrested.

Informing about recovery, the State Police Chief said several incriminating documents were also recovered from the possession of Bose and his wife besides four mobile phones, two SSDs, one pen drive and Rs 1.51 lakh cash.

“As many as 50 cases are registered against Bose at Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Chaibasa, Saraikela, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Chakradharpur”, informed State Police Chief.

Notably, Bose, now 92 years old, was working for the last 45 years for Maoists. He joined the naxal movement in sixties in Calcutta.
