Jamshedpur, Nov 15: Seraikela-Kharsawan police on Monday got seven days’ police remand for the top Naxal leader Prashant Bose alias Budha and five others from the Seraikela sub-divisional magistrate (SDJM) court.

Having got the police remand this morning, a team of police officials took all the six rebels to an undisclosed location in Ranchi under high-security cover for interrogation.

The other five Naxals who have been taken along in police remand are Prashant’s wife Shila Marandi, Birendra Hansda, Raju Tuddu, Krishna Banra and Gurucharan Bodra.

The 80-year-old Bose who was wanted by the police of Jharkhand, Bengal and Odisha for a long time was nabbed by a police team near the Gitibera Toll Plaza on Kandra-Chowka road under Kandra thana area on Friday morning. He was arrested along with five others while they were travelling in an SUV moving towards Kandra proper.

Having caught the top Naxal leader along with his associates, the police interrogated them for two days and finally forwarded them to the judicial custody on Sunday.

Bose and the others five Naxals were lodged in the Seraikela Divisional Jail on Sunday. While sending to the judicial custody, the police had prayed for seven days’  remand of the top Naxal and others. The SDJM court granted the pray petition on Monday morning.

Seraikela thana OC, Mahendra Kumar who had looked after the security arrangements of Bose and others confirmed that Bose and five others have been taken to Ranchi from the Seraikela Divisional Jail soon after the Kandra police which has registered a case in connection with the arrest got seven days’ police remand for the six Naxals this morning.

Notably, Prashant Bose who is a CPI-Maoist politburo member had been operating in Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha for decades and was involved in each and every subversive act carried out by the outlawed rebel outfit in the region.

By taking the veteran Naxal leader, the police expect to get many strategic information from him during his and his associates’ interrogation during the police remand.
