Daltonganj, Nov. 22: A FSL team is to assess the minor blast that occurred in the premises of the Chainpur police station on Sunday afternoon during the cleanliness drive carried out by the contingent of chowkidars.

SP Palamu, Chandan Kr Sinha, said, “We are going to send requisition to FSL team, Ranchi to help us find out as to what led to the blast.”

He visited the burst site last evening and prima facie broken bottles and other garbage appear to have caused the burst.

“There is nothing more to suggest on the surface right now and hence, we think that the FSL Ranchi team can unearth some more facts about it,” added the SP.

Meanwhile, the injured chowkidar Nandu Manjhi was shifted from MMCH Daltonganj to Medica Hospital in Ranchi last night.

SP confirming it said, “The chowkidar is fine. Nevertheless, he has been taken down to the Medica Ranchi.”

MMCH Surgeon Dr Sanjay Kr on being contacted, said, “Nandu was x-rayed and one ‘ foreign body’ was found in his left lower leg.”

The surgeon further said that the foreign body was not life threatening. It could be extracted with normal surgical procedure.

On being asked why Nandu Manjhi was shifted to Medica Ranchi, the SP said, “We want to reassure him and his family that his treatment and recovery are our top priority.”
