Ranchi, Dec.1: Sub-inspector Rupa Tirkey’s death case, which is being probed by the CBI following a Jharkhand High Court order, took another turn today.

The development took place after ST-SC special judge Vishal Srivastava directed the ST- SC police station in the Jharkhand capital to register an FIR against Pankaj Mishra, a man supposed closed to chief minister Hemant Soren, deputy superintendent of police P.K.Mishra, S.P(city) Ranchi Saurabh Kumar and officer-in-charge of the SC ST police station.

The order, which was passed on November 26, came to the fore today after an order of the copy came in the hand of concerned lawyers Prashant Kumar Shrivastava and Rajeev Kumar.

The court passed the order exercising its power under section 156 (3) of CrPC. The court, a civil court lawyer said, made viral audios based on the FIR.

“The viral audio was provided by Padmavati Oraon, the mother of the deceased, to the court on September 23. In the audio abusive languages were being used by Dy SP Mishra. Apart from this, there was also communication between Tirkey and her friend and batchmate Shiv Kumar Kanaujia,” the lawyer said.

“The City SP of Ranchi and the officer-in-charge of the police station were accused of not registering an FIR in this connection,” the lawyer added.

The sections under which direction has been given to register FIR include 34, 166, 166A, 499 and 505(2) of IPC and sections 3(1)(n), 3(1)r, 3(1)s and 4(1) of SC/ST Atrocities (prevention) Act.

Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajeev Kumar, who earlier fought for a CBI probe into the matter, confirmed the development saying this will pave the path for a probe into the connivance of the police with a close associate of the chief minister, Pankaj Mishra.

Tirkey was found hanging at her official residence in Sahibganj in mysterious circumstances on May 3 this year. While police were taking it as a case of suicide, family members of the deceased were taking it as a case of murder. The deceased’s friend and batchmate Shiv Kumar Kanaujia is under judicial custody in the case.  The High court ordered a CBI probe in the matter on September 1.
