New Delhi, Dec.4: Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), demanded state-by-state compensation and employment for the kin of farmers who died while protesting the three farm laws on Saturday. Tikait’s declaration comes ahead of today’s meeting of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha.
“Our demand for minimum support price (MSP) is from the Union government,” the BKU chief added. The discussions have just begun, and we shall see how they progress. We won’t establish any solutions today; instead, we’ll talk about how the agitation progresses,” he said.
“The talks between Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and farmers, which took place on Friday, were inconclusive,” he added.
“Thursday’s talks between Haryana’s chief minister and farmers were inconclusive, though they did agree to withdraw the cases filed against farmers.” “Like Punjab, we need state-level compensation for farmer deaths and job creation,” Tikait remarked.
The SKM has opted to wait for the union government to react publicly and completely to all of the demands it made in its letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi declared on November 19 that the Centre will introduce the appropriate bills to repeal the agriculture laws during the Winter Session of Parliament. The government will also form a group to work on a new Minimum Support Price structure, according to the Prime Minister (MSP).
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill was passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on November 29, the first day of the winter session. President Ram Nath Kovind has also signed the bill repealing the three agriculture laws, bringing the process to a close.
