New Delhi, Dec 5: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday joined the protest of guest teachers, demanding regularization, outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal.

The guest teachers of the Delhi government were protesting the regularization of their jobs.

“22,000 guest teachers are working as bonded labourers here, the Aap government had failed on its promises to create eight lakh new jobs and 20 new colleges in the national capital,” said Sidhu while addressing media persons.

“Delhi Education Model is Contract Model…Delhi government has 1,031 schools, while only 196 schools have principals. 45 per cent teachers’ posts are vacant and schools are run by 22,000 guest teachers on daily wages with renewal of contracts every 15 days,” Sidhu stated in a tweet.

In your 2015 manifesto you promised 8 lakh new jobs and 20 new colleges in Delhi, where are the jobs and colleges ? You have given only 440 Jobs in Delhi. On the contrary of your failed guarantees, unemployment rate of Delhi has increased by almost 5 times in last 5 years !!

He also slammed CM for joining the protest of contractual teachers in Punjab’s Mohali last month.

“You should first solve issues in your state before you come to Punjab to lure people there,” he added.

Notably on November 27, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had joined the protest of Contractual teachers in Mohali, Punjab who have been pressing for several demands including regularization of services of contractual teachers.
