Third wave of Corona pandemic apparently hits Jharkhand

Ranchi, Dec.31: With a total active case of 1371, Jharkhand has apparently experienced the third wave of corona pandemic as people are chalking out plans to observe New Year.

 

With 246 out of 482 new cases across the state reported on a single day on Thursday, Ranchi tops in corona positivity till 9am today.  Ranchi is followed by Koderma (56), East Singhbhum (42) and Bokaro (29) besides Dhanbad (28), Deoghar (13), Chatra (7), West Singhbhum (7), Palamu (4) and other districts ranging in between 0 to 3.

 

Prominent figures who reported regarding their corona positivity so far include Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha, Sinha’s better half and Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad among others.

 

Seven-day growth rate of Jharkhand is 0.05 percent which is higher than the national growth rate (0.02 percent) of the same period.

 

As the third wave hit the state, vaccination has also been intensified to check the spread. On December 30, as many as 1, 34,105 were vaccinated. Out of total vaccination, 50,672 was vaccinated in the first dose while 83,433 were vaccinated with the second dose.

 

Apart from this, district administrations across the state also activated war rooms holding a meeting of District Covid Task Forces.  Work of contact tracing has been increased and final instructions were given to leave no stone unturned to help the infected ones recover properly.
