Dhanbad, Jan 17: Dhanbad police have arrested six inter-district criminals involved in robbing in police dress. They have also recovered Rs 4.30 lakh looted from the agents of a private financial institution three days ago from Govindpur.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar in the later afternoon today informed media persons that among six arrested persons three belong to Sahebganj district, one each from Dhanbad, Deoghar and Jamtara.
Three days ago, the criminals had looted Rs 4.32 lakh from two collection agents of a private financial institution at GT Road under Govindpur police station. Criminals, who were in police dress, picked up both the agents in the name of providing them security. They took them to a 30 km away Tundi block and robbed them of their cash, identity card, mobile phones and other belongings.
The SSP said since the modus operandi of the criminals were different (robbery in police dress) from others, a special team of senior police officers Barbadda and Govindpurpolice stations under headquarter deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Amar Kumar Pandey was constituted to investigate.
“The special team first nabbed kingpin of robbery, Balkaran Yadav, from Sahebganj district along with two other Kundan Ram and Niku Sharma and recovered Rs 4.30 lakh looted money out of Rs 4.32 lakh. After the arrest in Sahebganj, a special team also nabbed other criminals Uday Kumar from Dhanbad, Shekhar Kumar Roy from Deoghar and Sanjay Kumar Roy from Jamtara districts,” said SSP Sanjiv Kumar to media persons.
The SSP added that said a special team recovered a Scorpio, one motorcycle and a bullet bike used by criminals in robbery incidents. Police dress used by Balkaran Yadav was also recovered from. Beides it, ten mobile phones were seized including those that were snatched from a cash collection agent of a private financial company from criminals.
