Daltonganj, Jan 29: Timely and swift intervention by SP Chandan Kumar Sinha saved the life of a critical D. U. B (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) patient Priyanka Devi in MMCH Daltonganj.
Priyanka hails from the village Darudeeh Sangbar under the Nilambar Pitambarpur block. She was in dire need of 3 units of blood but her relatives could donate only two units of blood.
The blood bank in Daltonganj where this man rushed for one unit of blood asked for a donor for replacement of blood but since this man had no donor with him, his hope of saving the patient was diminishing every minute.
A kin of Priyanka named Arun then contacted the SP for seeking help.
SP Chandan Kumar Sinha told lagatar24.com late last night that the man on the other side sounded nervous and tense about not getting one more unit of blood as he told him.
Arun was asked to be at the blood bank again where the SP conveyed to give him one unit of blood which would be replenished today (Saturday) by any cop of the police constabulary here.
Dr Seema, the attending doctor of the lady patient, was contacted by this correspondent late at night again to understand what D. U. B is and what the condition of the patient was.
Dr Seema said her dysfunctional uterus was profusely bleeding and the bleeding acute and severe. This bleeding led to a sharp fall of her Hb level coming down to 7 gram. The patient was kept in the ICU for a couple of days and was given BT (blood transfusion).
Her uterus was finally removed after a successful surgical procedure. There was a word of applause for Dr Seema and her team for the successful surgery on her.
Sources said that SP Chandan Kumar Sinha had donated one unit of blood for a road accident victim last year.
Inspector of police cum officer in charge of the town police station A K Mahatha said that the SP always motivates his cops and officials to donate blood and he had set an example by donating blood himself for a road accident victim last year.
Last year, Palamu police had donated around 55 or more units of blood, said sources in the police.
