Ranchi, Feb 3: The CBI investigating the case of the suspected murder of a lady officer of Jharkhand Police, Rupa Tirkey, is questioning important witnesses of this case, including medical and police officials.

The two-member CBI team headed by Inspector G. S. Anshu is camping in Sahebganj district of Santhal Pargana. The CBI team summoned the officer-in-charge of Mirzachauki Ashok Prasad and two women home guard jawans namely Hasina Khatoon and Shobha Kumari.

Other than the Rupa Tirkey case, the CBI quizzed the officer about the Dhananjay Mishra murder case. Mishra was the cousin of a local politician Pankaj Mishra. Dhananjay was murdered last year and police had arrested several persons on the charge of murder. The CBI asked the officer-in-charge whether he faced any political pressure from Pankaj Mishra during the investigation of that case. But the officer refused that he was subjected to any undue pressure during the investigation. Notably, the family of Rupa Tirkey has been alleging that Pankaj Mishra got her eliminated.

The CBI team visited the Sadar hospital of the district to meet doctors of the medical board who had conducted a post-mortem upon Rupa Tirkey. Besides, the central agency also met senior official Sanjay Prasad who was deputed as magistrate to conduct the post-mortem.

This is for the fourth consecutive time when the CBI team camped in Sahebganj to investigate this case. The last time the CBI team came was on November 23 last year and stayed for three days.

26 years old Rupa Tirkey was posted at Mahila police station in Sahebganj district. She was found hanging at her official quarter in the morning of May 3 last year. The police initially concluded it as a case of suicide. Later on, it arrested her colleague SK Kanaujia for abetment of suicide. But the family blamed their daughter was murdered by some influential persons and moved a petition for the CBI probe at Jharkhand High Court. The single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi ordered the CBI probe.
