New Delhi, Feb 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India on their historic victory in the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 in Antigua on Sunday. The Yash Dhull-led squad won the U19 Cricket World Cup for the fifth time after defeating England by four wickets in the final.
PM Modi expressed his pride in India’s young cricketers, stating that the Indian colts’ outstanding performance at the highest level demonstrates that Indian cricket’s future is in safe and capable hands.
“Extremely proud of our young cricketers. Congratulations to the Indian team for winning the ICC U19 World Cup. They have shown great fortitude through the tournament. Their stellar performance at the highest level shows that the future of Indian cricket is in safe and able hands,” PM Modi tweeted.

Notably, it was a remarkable achievement for India, who had previously won the tournament in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018, as they were forced to field a playing XI when several players caught COVID-19 just hours before their match against Ireland.
