Jamshedpur, Feb 10: Bodies of a 22-year-old youth and a 20-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree under Bodam thana area about 20 kms away from here on Thursday morning.

The bodies were identified as that of Kush Singh Sardar and Rina Singh Sardar, both residents of Kalajore village located in the foothills of Dalma where they were found hanging.

Police maintain that this appeared to be a case of twin suicide committed over love affair, but still they are probing into the cause of deaths through other angle also.

Revealing about the sensational incident, OC, Bodam thana, Mithilesh Kumar said that the bodies of the youth and the girl were seen by the local villagers at about 7 am today.

“As soon as the information about the twin deaths reached to the Bodam thana, a police party rushed to the spot and seized the bodies. Soon afterwards, the police contacted the family members concerned. And it was after talking to the families of both the youth and the girl that we came to know that both of them would love each other, ” said Kumar.

The OC said during the preliminary investigation, the police also talked to a number of people of Kalajore village and eventually came to know that both Kush and Rina wanted to marry themselves but the family of Kush had strong objection to their marriage.

“Despite both the deceased belonged to the same community, the youth’s father had strong objection to the marriage. The obstacle in the marriage must have led the love-birds to end their lives by committing suicide, ” the OC said.

According to the police officer, as no suicidal note has been recovered yet and a matter of serious objection was involved from the youth’s family, the police had to consider a murder angle also in the case.

As of now the police have shifted both the bodies to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.

“We will reach to a conclusion about the cause of deaths of both the youth and the girl after getting the autopsy report only.
