Patna, Feb 11: Patna High Court heard arguments related to the Gai Ghat Remand Home case on Friday. The court has asked a woman police officer of the rank of DSP to conduct the investigation in the case. The court has also called for an inquiry report. The court further said that the Bihar State Legal Services Authority, if needed, should provide whatever help it can to the victim.

The court has also asked all the concerned departments, including the social welfare department of the state, to bring their respective affidavits on record. This should also include the statement of the victim on February 4, 2022. The Advocate General of the state government said that an FIR has been lodged on behalf of both the victims in the women’s police station. One’s PS case number- 13/2022 and the other’s PS case number-17/ 2022 has been registered.

The victim was also investigated before the concerned authorities. The Advocate General further has also raised doubts about the purpose of the statement made by the victim. He said that the victim had left the care home in the month of August 2021, but is making allegations for the first time in January 2022.

The victim’s advocate Meenu Kumari said that the court has also accepted the intervention petition filed by the Mahila Vikas Manch for hearing. The High Court is hearing the matter taking suo motu cognizance. The High Court has registered this petition on the recommendation of the Patna High Court Juvenile Justice Monitoring Committee. Justice Ashutosh Kumar is the chairman of the committee, while Justice Anjani Kumar Sharan and Justice Navneet Kumar Pandey are its members. The committee has taken the report published in the newspaper on January 31 in the said matter seriously. More than 260 women reside in the care home.
