With the weather department forecasting yet another spell of rain in the coming week, winter in all probability will have an extended winter in Jharkhand.
The season of chill usually lasts till the second week of February. But, the frequent western disturbances are likely to extend the winter season for the state.
“The chill is here to stay till February end, ” said a Met official adding that another western disturbance is brewing in the northern part of the country and it is likely to impact the weather conditions of Jharkhand and Bihar around February 16.
IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre issued a forecast of rain around midweek on February 16.
The intensity of rain would be more in northern and central Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre today said that the minimum temperature during the next 48 hours would experience no change but thereafter it is expected to witness a slight rise because of the western disturbance.
Several parts of the state including Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro, and Hazaribagh on Saturday woke up to haze and moderate fog.
