Kolkata, Feb 15: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named Kuldeep Yadav as a replacement for injured Washington Sundar for the upcoming 3-match T20I series. The series will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from February 16.
Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the T20I series due to a hamstring issue. All three ODIs for India against the West Indies were played by the Tamil Nadu all-rounder, who was sold to SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction.
“All-rounder Washington Sundar suffered a left hamstring muscle strain during fielding in the third ODI against the West Indies played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday,” said a BCCI release.

Sundar’s career has been hampered by injuries in recent years. Due to a finger injury sustained during India’s tour of England, the all-rounder missed the second part of the IPL 2021 and the T20 World Cup. Due to Covid-19, he also missed India’s visit of South Africa earlier this year.
Talking about Kuldeep, he was also a member of the ODI team, and he made his ODI comeback for the first time in nearly a year when he bowled the final ODI on Friday. Kuldeep pulled up two wickets in India’s series-clinching triumph.
In August of last year, Kuldeep last played T20Is for India in a three-match series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. The former Kolkatta Knight Riders spinner’s stock has slipped in the shorter version of the game, but after signing a deal with the Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2022, Kuldeep will be eager to make an impression against the West Indies if he gets the chance.
India’s T20I squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (vice-captain) (wicket-keeper), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohd.
