Ranchi, March 3: After a dismal performance in Ranji Trophy from the last few years, many controversies have arisen in the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) in recent times. One of them is that the recommendations by the Lodha Committee are not being implemented properly by the Association.
The Lodha Committee was appointed by the Supreme Court of India in 2015 in order to recommend implementable actions to improve the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), assess the punishment for Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra regarding the IPL betting scandal and analyze the role of Sundar Raman. The report was submitted on 14 July 2015.
Jharkhand team has been unable to qualify to the knockout stage from the elite group. The domestic team has many star players who have been a part of IPL but their performances have been quite below the mark, as per the information provided by a former selector. The individual performances of many players have been good but as a team, they have failed to perform.
One of the former Ranji Players S.P. Gautam had earlier said that there was a time when the Jharkhand Team was known for its game. The team has also won the 2010 Vijay Hazare Trophy and was quite consistent in the Ranji trophy as well. However, now the names of certain big players speak for themselves rather than their performances.
The concerning points regarding the team are the presence of many non-performing players, many players are above 30 years of age, many players are in the team just because of their name, new talented players are not getting a chance.
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association has refused to give any official statement regarding this.
