Ranchi, March 3: Jharkhand in-charge of Indian National Congress Avinash Pandey today welcomed the budget of the state government for the year 2022-23.

He termed the budget development-oriented and said that common people have been kept in its centre.

He said that the budget would prove to be a milestone in fulfilling the promises made to the public despite facing many difficulties after recovering from the global pandemic.

“The pandemic has undoubtedly posed great challenges to the state of Jharkhand and the neglectful attitude of the Centre has come to the fore in the form of a hindrance in the socio-economic development of the state.  With the determination to move forward, this budget shows alternative routes,” Pandey said.

He was of the opinion that the budget will prove to be very effective in bringing the socio-economic structure of the state back on the track of progress.

“The Mahagathbandhan government under the leadership of the young chief minister has always worked to move forward with restraint and sensitivity even in adverse circumstances. This budget will prove to be very effective in bringing the socio-economic structure of the state back on the track of progress. The provisions which have been brought by the Congress Party and the allies of the Grand Alliance to bring the resolution letter on the ground as promised to the public are highly commendable,” Pandey said.

He further said: “Every section has been taken care of in the budget. It has provision for a shelter for old people, certainty for women, holistic development for students, concern for daughters, the message of fearless and uninterrupted business for the business world, prosperous life base for farmers, assured future for government employees, employment for youth opportunities, better living facilities for the general public.”

The state in-charge of the congress justified the gross budget size saying it reflects clear intentions and vision of the Jharkhand government.

“Through this budget, it is the effort of the government that there should be a proper balance between infrastructure and individual benefit schemes, so the budget focuses on building infrastructure in areas like water, electricity, road health, education as well as individual benefits. Emphasis has also been laid on schemes like universal pension, rice-dal dhoti saree, housing, education of students,” he said.

“With an emphasis on healthy drinking water, education, food grains, 27 percent increase has been made in health, 20 percent in drinking water, 6.5 percent in education, 21 percent increase has been made in the distribution of food grains. Along with this, Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme, Agri Smart Village Scheme, Jal Nidhi Yojana, Gaudhan Nyay Yojana, Livestock Distribution Scheme, Model Cold Storage Scheme for better storage and marketing of agricultural products, (cold storage) keeping in mind the interests of the farmers. The provision of a corpus fund of Rs.25 crores to compensate for the economic loss is commendable,” Pandey added.

“Continuous work to be done under MGNREGA for employment generation in rural areas and the target of generating 12 crores 50 lakh man-days in the coming financial year is enough to demonstrate the intentions of the government. This is the budget of the developing state,” he signed off.
