New Delhi, March 3: The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, which begins on Friday in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, will use the Decision Review System (DRS).
The ICC announced on Thursday that the finale, which will take place from March 4 to 3, will be the most extensively broadcast women’s cricket event ever, with unprecedented coverage.
DRS is being used in the women’s World Cup for the second time. In England, the system was used in the 2017 edition. In a statement, the international body stated, “The Decision Review System (DRS) will be available during all matches.”
Notably, New Zealand will face West Indies in the tournament opener in Mount Maunganui on Friday.
All of the tournament’s matches will be televised live by broadcast partners across the world, which will have access to a fully created world feed programme from ICC TV, which will use a minimum of 24 cameras at each of the six locations.
“Women’s cricket has made rapid progress in the past few years, and I have been following it very keenly,” said former England men’s team captain and one of the commentators, Nasser Hussain.
Interestingly, India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on Sunday.
