Dhanbad, Mar 21: Uttam Singh of Jamshedpur and Anand Bihari Dubey of West Singhbhum have been elected as the president and secretary respectively of the Jharkhand Boxing Association (JBA) for the 2022- 26 session.
The returning officer and former JBA president Dr. Dinesh Upadhyay said that since a single person filed the nomination for a single post, all the candidates were declared unanimously.
Olympian Harbhajan Singh was the co-returning officer of the election. The Boxing Federation of India had sent Anil Bohidar as its observer for the election.
Dr. Upadhay said at the annual general meeting of JBA held at JRD Stadium on Sunday evening that six vice-presidents, one secretary, one treasurer, two assistant secretaries and six executive members were also elected unanimously.
Uttam Singh, the vice-president of Tata Steel, has been elected as the president of JBA for the second time. He is also president of the East Zone Boxing Association.
However, Anand Bihari Dubey of West Singhbhum and Rajiv Kumar Verma of Saraikela Kharsawan have been elected as the secretary and treasurer for the first time.
Newly elected vice-president Paritosh Kumar said at the meeting that president Uttam Singh also decided to hold a zonal boxing championship in Jharkhand. If all goes as per plan, the championship would be organized in Jamshedpur. Besides players of Jharkhand and Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh would participate in it.
The new team of association has also decided to plan for the development of boxing in all 24 districts of the state.

Asst secretary- Ram Pravesh Tiwary (Garhwa), Arvind Oraon (Latehar)
Treasurer- Rajiv Kumar Verma (Saraikela Kharsawan),
Executive members- Anil Barnwal (Koderma) K Hansraj (Giridih), Subrat Sen Roy (Hazaribagh), SK Tiwary (Chatra), Sikandar Mirdha (Godda), Salman Ali (Gumla) and S Sahni (Bokaro).
