Track trouble due to public agitation at Bamra station in Chakradharpur railway division

Jamshedpur, March 30:  Passengers had a tough time as train services in South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur division were disrupted for several hours on Wednesday due to public agitation at Bamra railway station in the Rourkela-Jharsuguda section.

The agitation demanding stoppages of several passenger trains besides improving passenger amenities at Bamra railway station began at 6.10 am and continued till late in the afternoon.

The agitated people started gathering at the Bamra railway station early in the morning.

They later squatted on the railway tracks disrupting the movement of both passenger and goods trains.

The agitation resulted in the cancellation of several trains

Both the  Up and Down  Rourkela – Jharsuguda MEMU Passenger Special ( 08167 / 08168) trains were cancelled on Wednesday.

The Up and Down Hatia – Jharsuguda MEMU ( 18175 / 18176 ) trains were also cancelled.

The  Rourkela-Puri Express and Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Express also remained cancelled due to public agitation. Several trains were short-terminated.

The  Puri- Rourkela Express ( 18126)  was short terminated at Rairakhol station and will run back to Puri from Rairakhol.

The  Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Superfast Express ( 12871)  was short terminated at Rourkela and will run back as a passenger special train from Rourkela to Howrah via Tatanagar railway station.

The Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express ( 12872 ) was short terminated at Sambalpur and will run back as a passenger special train from Sambalpur to Titlagarh.

Several trains were detained at various railway stations under the jurisdiction of the South Eastern Railway.

They included  Bengaluru Cant – Hatia Express (18638), Ahmedabad- Howrah Express ( 12833),  Puri – Hatia Express ( 18452), Rourkela- Bhubaneswar Express ( 22839), Howrah-Jagdalpur Express (18005 ), Howrah-Ahmedabad  Express (12834), Puri-Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express (18477) and Rajendranagar-Durg Express (13288).

The passengers of Howrah- Mumbai Duronto Express had a harrowing time as the train was stuck up at the Tatanagar railway station for several hours.

Railway sources said the public agitation resulted in the mass cancellation of tickets for several trains.
