Jamshedpur, April 1: Traffic went for a toss in Mango and several other areas in steel city as Hindu Utsav Samiti, took out three huge bike processions to mark the Hindu New Year today.
One procession was taken from Dimna Road in Mango, another from Khudiram Bose Chowk and a third from Burmamines.
BJP, Shiv Sena, Hindu Ekta Andolan, VHP, Bajarang Dal, RSS, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Sanatan Sanstha and members of several other pro-Hindu outfits took part in the processions taken out in the afternoon.
Ram Babu Tiwary, coordinator of the organising committee from Burmamines said, “Today when the society is subjected to attacks of sated-ness of western culture, it is important to protect Hindu culture through the medium of such welcome processions. Today terrorism is a huge threat everywhere. To face this threat it is necessary for everyone to keep aside their differences. In the previous two years processions could not be taken out due to the Covid – 19 pandemic, ” he said.
At several places, banners and billboards were put up wishing the people on Hindu New Year.
Commuters faced problems as the processions resulted in traffic congestion.
The situation was worst in Mango. As only the Mango bridge repairing work was resulting in inconvenience for commuters for the last few days, the processions added to the woes of commuters.
