Ranchi, April 1: The Jharkhand Health ministry will urge the education minister to recruit special teachers in accordance with the norms of the CBSE board to help those children suffering from autism to study in the government schools of Jharkhand.
This came to the fore as Health Minister Banna Gupta was attending a program for the awareness of parents whose children are suffering from autism at the Ranchi Press Club on April 1.
“With the help of innovations and technology, we are trying to achieve new heights in the field of health facility. We are also working to make Jharkhand a malnutrition free state so that small children of the state do not suffer any kind of malnutrition defect. In this episode, rice beer (Hadiya) is banned so that the pregnant women and child remain healthy,” the health minister said.
Director of Santosh College of Teacher’s Training and Education Dr Rashmi said that the health sector of the state has achieved new heights which can be seen through the fact that people from neighbouring states are visiting Jharkhand for getting treatment.
Sharing the signs of Autism he said, “Autism symptoms normally occur before a kid reaches the age of three. Some people exhibit indications from the moment they are born. Few signs of Autism include lack of eye contact, failing to listen to others, reluctance to be hugged, narrow range of interest among others.”
She also urged the people to not neglect such special children and never consider them as a liability. “We should treat them with care and look towards them with goodwill,” she added.
Talking about the treatment methodology she said that with the help of speech therapy, medications, behavioural therapy and proper parenting the effect of the disorder can be minimised.
“Dr Rajeev’s homoeopathic medicine is also working very well and I have seen many examples where through treatment children have recovered completely and now leading a very happy social life,” Dr Rashmi said.
Describing Autism, Dr Rajeev said that Autism is referred to be a “spectrum” disorder since the kind and intensity of symptoms that people experience varies greatly. Autism affects people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They have a hard time understanding what other people are thinking and feeling. This limits their ability to communicate, whether through words, gestures, touch or facial expressions. People with autism have difficulty learning. Their abilities may not develop at the correct age and manner. For instance, someone may have a problem with communication but can excel at art, music, calculations or memory. As a result, individuals may perform particularly well on analytical or problem-solving tests.
Mona Gupta, who had reached out to participate in the awareness program organised by the Ranchi Press Club in association with Dr Rajeev’s Homeopath Clinic and YBN University with her child, has a child who is suffering from Autism. She said that after her child attained the age of 3 years, she noticed some differences in him from other children.
“I got to know that my child is not like others as he did not speak after three years also and also did not pay attention to the words. After that, I took him to many different hospitals but was unable to find any kind of solution. Finally, I myself learnt how to give physiotherapy to him and started making him do exercise which has helped a lot. At present, my child is seven years old and almost 40-50% improvement can be seen in the past four years,” she said.
The German psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler developed the term autism in 1911 to characterise a symptom of the most severe forms of schizophrenia, a notion he had also created. The word Autism is made of two parts, “aut” and “ism”. The prefix of the word is “aut” which means “self” in Greek and the suffix “ism” means “state of being or condition” in Greek. Autism Spectrum Condition (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that manifests itself early in life. It begins in early childhood and lasts throughout the rest of a person’s life. Autism is often connected with difficulties in social and communication skills, as well as repetitive habits and routine adherence. It’s also possible that it’ll be accompanied by sensory sensitivity and difficulties paying attention.
